Original RAW image straight out of the camera.
This is a good example of an image taken with a professional camera. The camera looks at the scene for brightness to evaluate the exposure and averages it out across the scene. The result is a good RAW image sharp from front to back. I have used several focus points over a range of images and combined them into one final image to allow front to back sharpness. For some images it may be desirable to blur the background if it's distracting. This is done in camera with a wide aperture to minimise depth of field.

Same image after post processing.
In post processing we use all of the data stored in the RAW file to extract detail from the shadows, control contrast and highlights. I have changed the sky as it was an overcast day. Other adjustments include localised exposure correction, noise reduction, white balance, perspective control, cropping, lens correction and colour saturation.

This image is also straight out of the camera. The distortion is typical of a wide angle lens. The sky is washed out and the double yellow lines are distracting.

This image has a replaced sky. Five focus points over five images blended together.
The yellow lines have been removed along
with the detail on the car number plate.

This image demonstrates converging verticals unavoidable with wide angle lenses.
